Lil Wayne Headlining Hot 97’s Annual Summer Jam

It’s almost summer time, and all the major music festivals are being announced. Most recently it was announced that Lil Wayne will headline Hot 97′s Summer Jam alongside his Young Money/Cash Money Family.

The rapper will be joined by his Young Money crew, Birdman, Drake and others for Hot 97’s annual Summer Jam, to be held June 5 again at the Meadowlands Stadium.

Wiz Khalifa, Waka Flocka Flame, Fabolous, Dipset, Rick Ross, Chris Brown and Lloyd Banks are also officially on the marquee, in addition to the promise of “special guests.”

They talk about a number of topics, and Nardwuar gives Weezy a number of gifts including a rare Cheech and Chong record with rolling papers, a Nirvana exhibit poster and book, a Pimp Daddy casette tape, a King Lee record, a Gregory D record, a Show Boys – Drag Rap record, and a bag of Rap Snacks. Lil Wayne’s Carter IV Delayed Until June 21

Mack Maine confirmed to XXL that Lil Wayne‘s Carter IV album has been delayed until June 21st.

Earlier this week, rumors hit the ’net that Lil Wayne’s highly anticipated album, Tha Carter IV, was pushed back from May 16 until June. XXLMag.com has learned exclusively, that the claims are indeed true.

Young Money president, Mack Maine, informed XXL that Weezy’s follow up to 2008’s multi-platinum selling Carter III LP will be hitting shelves on June 21. We also confirmed that the graduation photo of a pre-teenage Wayne, sporting his signature facial tattoos that leaked online earlier this week, as well, is the official cover art to the disc.

Lil Wayne Explains Drake’s Absence From Current Tour

Here is another clip from MTV‘s sit down with Lil Wayne. Weezy talks to Sway about Drake‘s absence from the current “I Am Still Music II” tour.

“That’s just due to this world we live in today,” said the Young Money captain. “[B]ecause I remember back in the days when if someone wasn’t on tour then the first thing we’d think was they were doing a movie or they were doing something else that was productive.”

Wayne went on to add, “Nowadays if you don’t see somebody in the picture, then it’s ‘Oh, he’s leaving’ and he’s this and “Oh Wayne, you’re mad at this person’ and I don’t even deal with it man. I just get my money and call the shots.”

Jim Jonsin Talks Lil Wayne’s Next Carter IV Single

“Lollipop” producer Jim Jonsin spoke out recently in a interview, and said that he has worked on a few songs with Lil Wayne that will be on Tha Carter IV album. Jonsin also reveled that he produced Lil Wayne‘s next single as well, and that it has a similar feel to the “Lollipop” record.

There’s also a rumor that you’re working on Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter IV’ release. What can you tell me about that?

We’re going to do a couple of songs [on the album]. I heard yesterday that one of the songs we did will be Lil Wayne’s next single. I can’t tell you [all of the details]. We might be changing the title of the song and so I can’t disclose what it is.

What is the feel of the song? Are you looking to go in the same route as ‘Lollipop?’

It has a little bit of a feel to maybe a ‘Lollipop’ but it has its own thing. It wasn’t made to be like ‘Lollipop.’ I can give you a hint of what it might be, there are three parts. Pitbull helped me write the song. I think Wayne’s going to interject, but the song goes, “She blows my brain” meaning she blows me away but then there’s an alternate meaning. There’s like three hooks in the song.

Lil Wayne Shoots I Am Still Music Tour Documentary

For those of you who are not going to be able to catch a date on Lil Wayne‘s “I Am Still Music II” Tour, don’t worry because Lil Wayne is shooting a tour DVD/documentary for fans.

Fans who haven’t gotten a ticket to Lil Wayne’s I Am Still Music Tour will still get a chance to see Weezy on the big stage after all. While backstage at his New Orleans show last week Weezy revealed to MTV News that he has been filming select dates and will compile the footage into a tour documentary similar to Jay-Z’s 2000 film, Backstage, and Russell Simmons’ 1995 doc The Show.

“I just felt like a movie like that hasn’t come out in so long,” Weezy said. “At that time when they put those movies out, we as the fans were interested in what they were doing on the road. … Nobody hasn’t came around since then that was that interesting other than Young Money.”

The I Am Still Music Tour, which kicked off on March 16, has already made key stops in New York and Miami, and will conclude on May 1 at the Bamboozle festival in East Rutherford, New Jersey. A source close to the Young Money camp also confirmed that DJ Scoob Doo has been shooting behind-the-scenes footage, and several cameras have been set up to film at different tour dates.

While there is no word whether the film will be a theatrical release or a straight-to-DVD offering, Tunechi is confident that it will be impactful. “It’s going to be real major; it’s going to be real big,” he said. “I will eat real nice.”

Lil Wayne Treats N.O. Fans To Appearances By Drake, Chris Paul

It’s good to be home, New Orleans,” hometown hero Lil Wayne told the audience after taking the stage at Hornets Arena in the Crescent City. And the sold-out crowd of his birthplace loved him for it.

All of Weezy‘s I Am Still Music tourmates hit the stage on Thursday night, including Porcelain Black, Mix Master Mike & Travis Barker, and Ricky Rozay Ross, with an appearance by buddy DJ Khaled, each giving it their all, and the crowd was with them every step of the way.

After launching into the first quarter of his performance with “A Milli” and “Got Money” (featuring fellow NOLA MC Mack Maine), Wayne gave the city another series of nods. Before getting into “Go DJ,” Wayne called out to DJ 45, “We in my hometown! You got some bounce for me?” And later, in his homage to fallen hip-hop icons, Wayne called out, “And if you from New Orleans, put your hands up for Soulja Slim,” paying his respect to the late rap star.

Nicki Minaj had the audience in a frenzy when, instead of her typical move of choosing an audience member to give a lap dance to, she asked the crowd, “So, y’all are Hornets fans? Usually I invite someone from the audience onstage. But today, there’s someone special.” The decibel level in the arena rose exponentially as Chris Paul seemed not too displeased at handling the honors for the night. The famed Hornets point guard sat down with a smile as Nicki did … well, what Nicki does.

Young Money was on full display when Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda and Mack Maine joined Wayne for “Every Girl.” Ace Hood came out to perform “Hustle Hard,” his single with Wayne. Lil Chuckee, Lil Twist, Gudda, Mack and Millz came out for “Bedrock,” and Birdman graced the stage for a fiery rendition of “Fire Flame (Remix).”

Then Wayne pulled out his final surprise of the night: bringing out Drake for “Miss Me” and “Forever.” Dreezy relished the chance to speak to his New Orleans fans and once more quell any rumors that he was leaving the Young Money family.

“I wanna say one very important thing to you before I go,” Drake said. “I wanna let you know that New Orleans was truly the birthplace of my career. Y’all were the first people to f— with my music, and I recognize that. And just know that I’m Young Money forever, and this is my mother—-ing brother, and I love you, man,” he added, turning to Wayne.

And just to make sure fans knew when to expect that Carter IV album, Weezy made the audience repeat the date back to him. May 16 it is!

Rumors surfaced recently that Lil Wayne had a new girlfriend who was a cougar. However Wayne wanted to squash the rumors, and let people know that the girl he was spotted with was Marissa Flores.
