Video: T.I. Says Lil Wayne Could Take “King Of The South” Title

After saying multiple times in many interviews that he doesn’t want to be a “40 year-old” rapper (rather an actor), Grand Hustle leader T.I. says that only Lil Wayne could replace his “King Of The South” status. TIP says that he has too much history and success for just anyone to claim the title.

“It doesn’t bother me at all,” Tip said about his fellow Southern rappers. “Another point I often make is the success of another person, the rise or fall of another individual has no bearing on my title. No matter how much a person does from this day forward, it doesn’t take away from the things I’ve done to this day. I’m gonna have to stop for a long time to let you start for a long time in order for you to catch up, no matter how much you do, and not taking away from anybody, not saying nothing bad about nobody — you gonna have to do what you’re doing right now times two, times three, seven times over in order to be where I am right now…As far as from a standpoint of success, the only person who is in a position to make a claim like that sort would be [Lil] Wayne, as far as success, from a numbers standpoint. As far as longevity and success, that’s the only person I feel like can say that.”

Video: Lil Wayne Proves He Has Quit Cough Syrup

In the video above, you can see Lil Wayne prove that he has no desire to use cough syrup anymore! Tity Boi tempts Weezy with some codine syrup before he leaves for Rikers, and Wayne is having no part of it. Lil Wayne instead drinks Patron and says “RIP to the syrup.” This is a clip from the Entourage DVD put out by DJ Scoob Doo, and you can see two more videos form it below. The first is the official trailer, and in the second Birdman shows off his $1.5 million watch. The only other person with the same watch is Sir Elton John. Drake Announces Welcome Home Weezy Concert

We are beyond excited about this! Check out what Rap-Up has to say about the Welcome Home Weezy Concert that Drake announced last night via uStream.

A fitting homecoming is already being planned for Lil Wayne. The day after he is expected to be released from jail, the Cash Money rapper will celebrate by throwing a welcome home concert.

Drake made the announcement during his Ustream session on Thursday, saying it would take place on November 5, but an exact location was not disclosed. Drizzy has a show the day before in Los Angeles and the day after in Las Vegas. Lil Wayne is serving his time at Rikers Island in New York.

“Undisclosed location, November 5, the Welcome Home Weezy concert,” said Wayne’s protégé while sipping on Pinot Grigio in his Toronto crib. “You might as well camp out at all different locations. That’s gonna be crazy.”

Lil Wayne has been serving time for weapons charges since March. He is expected to be released on November 4. His EP, I Am Not a Human Being, will arrive on his 28th birthday on September 27.

Drake’s “Miss Me” video featuring Lil Wayne debuted Thursday night (August 19) on MTV. The clip starts with a man in a hood standing in an alley. He’s lighting up a Molotov cocktail and throwing it at the wall. The music starts, and we see Drake performing against a white backdrop, but the shot is wide and reveals a black setting as well.

The action cuts to a sexy woman dancing in a room alone, and later we see Drake in that same room, sitting on the floor as the woman shakes it for him.

“Miss Me” has heavy performance scenes throughout Drizzy’s verse, and then we see a TV set in the alley. Lil Wayne appears on the wall in the alley rapping, and he again is shown on the wall in the room where Drake and the girl are, like a projection.

The Birdman and most of Wayne and Drake’s Young Money family appear in the video as well. As the video comes to a close, it’s revealed that Drake was the man in the hood at the beginning of the clip.

“Miss Me” was directed by Anthony Mandler, who has helmed all of Drake’s Thank Me Later videos.

” ‘Miss Me,’ it was something I was so excited to do,” Drake said recently on the set of another Mandler clip, for “Fancy.” “It was something not a lot of people expected me to do, especially with Wayne being in the situation he’s in. We did it as a team, held Wayne down. All the Young Money big dawgs came down — the men of Young Money — to show the muscle, to show we still in full effect. It’s a great piece. It’s darker than the feel of the song. It’s got very much like a youth-in-revolt, rebellious feel to it. I wanted to be aggressive, man. That was my chance to flex my little ‘We did it. We’re still here. Young Money is still in demand.’ And to deliver a message that I feel very strong about. I’m not trying to be the best in the world. I don’t think that’s possible. There’s always somebody better than you. I just hope they miss me, man. So this is it. ‘Miss Me.’ ”

The next video Drake and Mandler will shoot is for “Show Me a Good Time.”

Video: Lil Wayne And Protege Lil Twist Are ‘Like Brothers’

Twist has been posting updates online for Lil Wayne during his incarceration.

Hey, it’s an even exchange. Lil Wayne teaches his protégé Lil Twist about the music business and the teenager teaches Weezy F. Baby about navigating modern technology. It was through Twist’s Ustream account in February that Wayne told the world he opened a Twitter account and spit rhymes from Tha Carter IV for fans: “She a monster, but I’m a beast, though/ Take her clothes off, with my teeth, though.”

From time to time, Twist takes over Weezy‘s WeezyThanxYou.com and the @liltunechi Twitter page and posts messages that Wayne dictates to him.

“He calls me,” Twist said on the blue carpet of the Teen Choice Awards this past weekend in Los Angeles. “He lets me know what he wants me to update from time and time. Every time he calls, I update everything he wants. That’s my heavy connection to his blog site.”

Twist is the honorary voice of Lil Wayne until the music icon returns from prison.

“That’s a hard job. But I am that. … Me and Wayne, we’re like brothers. He really took me in. He taught me how to do everything, he taught me the music business,” Twist added. “We got a strong brother bond.”

Also during Wayne‘s February Ustream, you might recall he shouted out Justin Bieber. The Bieb’s connection to the Young Money camp actually runs through Twist. Twist said he spends a significant amount of time with his pop-star homey in the lab.

“I’ve been working hard on my debut album Don’t Get It Twisted,” he revealed. “Me and Justin are like best friends. So we’re always in the studio or we share thoughts through iChat. Nicki [Minaj], we got a great record for my album also.”

Minaj and Justin Bieber are competing in the Best New Artist VMA category along with Ke$ha, Jason Derülo and Broken Bells.

“I don’t even wanna join that fight,” Twist said about who he would pick between his Young Money family member and homeboy. “Whoever wins, I’m going to be happy.”
