Lil Wayne Interview With Nardwuar From Canada [Video]

Above you can see Lil Wayne in his interview with Nardwuar in Canada April 27th. They talk about a number of topics, and Nardwuar gives Weezy a number of gifts including a rare Cheech and Chong record with rolling papers, a Nirvana exhibit poster and book, a Pimp Daddy casette tape, a King Lee record, a Gregory D record, a Show Boys – Drag Rap record, and a bag of Rap Snacks. Lil Wayne Treats N.O. Fans To Appearances By Drake, Chris Paul

It’s good to be home, New Orleans,” hometown hero Lil Wayne told the audience after taking the stage at Hornets Arena in the Crescent City. And the sold-out crowd of his birthplace loved him for it.

All of Weezy‘s I Am Still Music tourmates hit the stage on Thursday night, including Porcelain Black, Mix Master Mike & Travis Barker, and Ricky Rozay Ross, with an appearance by buddy DJ Khaled, each giving it their all, and the crowd was with them every step of the way.

After launching into the first quarter of his performance with “A Milli” and “Got Money” (featuring fellow NOLA MC Mack Maine), Wayne gave the city another series of nods. Before getting into “Go DJ,” Wayne called out to DJ 45, “We in my hometown! You got some bounce for me?” And later, in his homage to fallen hip-hop icons, Wayne called out, “And if you from New Orleans, put your hands up for Soulja Slim,” paying his respect to the late rap star.

Nicki Minaj had the audience in a frenzy when, instead of her typical move of choosing an audience member to give a lap dance to, she asked the crowd, “So, y’all are Hornets fans? Usually I invite someone from the audience onstage. But today, there’s someone special.” The decibel level in the arena rose exponentially as Chris Paul seemed not too displeased at handling the honors for the night. The famed Hornets point guard sat down with a smile as Nicki did … well, what Nicki does.

Young Money was on full display when Jae Millz, Gudda Gudda and Mack Maine joined Wayne for “Every Girl.” Ace Hood came out to perform “Hustle Hard,” his single with Wayne. Lil Chuckee, Lil Twist, Gudda, Mack and Millz came out for “Bedrock,” and Birdman graced the stage for a fiery rendition of “Fire Flame (Remix).”

Then Wayne pulled out his final surprise of the night: bringing out Drake for “Miss Me” and “Forever.” Dreezy relished the chance to speak to his New Orleans fans and once more quell any rumors that he was leaving the Young Money family.

“I wanna say one very important thing to you before I go,” Drake said. “I wanna let you know that New Orleans was truly the birthplace of my career. Y’all were the first people to f— with my music, and I recognize that. And just know that I’m Young Money forever, and this is my mother—-ing brother, and I love you, man,” he added, turning to Wayne.

And just to make sure fans knew when to expect that Carter IV album, Weezy made the audience repeat the date back to him. May 16 it is!

The Game Discusses Lil Wayne & Dr. Dre Collaborations

Game discusses working with Lil Wayne

Compton rapper the Game is still all-red everything, up to his crimson Mohawk. On his latest single, the Cool & Dre-produced “Red Nation,” another rapper with a penchant for the same color, Lil Wayne, performs the chorus. We spoke to the Game on the set of the “Red Nation” music video, and he recalled how he got Weezy to appear on the record. “I called Wayne and I was like, ‘Yo I need you to kill this hook,’ ” the Game told Mixtape Daily. “He was like, ‘No problem,’ and he did his thing for me.”

The Game usually prefers to record all of his collaborations with guest artists while they’re in the same studio rather than sending music files back and forth via the Internet, but he made an exception for Weezy. “Wayne been on this I Am Still Music tour, man, doing his thing,” the Game explained. “The only exception. That’s like my brother. We from the same side of the rag. So you know what it is, man, we representing. Me and Wayne, we been in the studio vibe before; it just wasn’t on this song.”

Weezy previously appeared on the Game’s 2008 album, LAX, performing chorus duties on the introspective “My Life.” The Game’s forthcoming The R.E.D. Album does not yet have a release date. According to the rapper, Dr. Dre’s Detox album is holding up the process.

“[The] release date [is] probably late July or early August, man. I’ll let [producer] Jimmy Iovine put that red paint on the calendar and give us a specific date,” the Game said. “All I know is that the album is almost finished. Dre is finishing up Detox and then he going to help me finish up mine. I’m like 90, 95 percent done. Just waiting on Dre to finish his project and then come on over and lend his ear and probably mix a couple of songs, especially the ones that he did, and we’re going to see it in stores.”
