Lil Wayne being sued over ‘Mrs. Officer’

Lil Wayne has reportedly been sued for copyright infringement by a producer claiming to own the production for the Carter III single “Mrs. Officer.”


Producer Mali Boy has filed the lawsuit against Weezy in Georgia. Atlanta producer named Michael Bradford aka Mali Boi claims he is the original producer of the track that made “Mrs. Officer” so popular. The original song “Crush” produced by Mali Boy was for another artist named Sky but somehow ended up in the company of Lil Wayne and producer of “Mrs.Officer” Deezle. Mali Boy claims Deezle remade the track owned by him without permission and has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Lil Wayne and everybody involved in the song in the US District Court for the Northern District of Georgia.

While originally filed in January, Mali Boy claims Weezy’s camp has avoided the lawsuit.

It is currently awaiting a responsive answer from the defendants. According to the plaintiff Michael Bradford, Lil Wayne’s attorney, Mr. Sweeney has attempted to evade the summons in order to answer the complaint. Deezel has filed for two thirty (30) day extensions to file an answer, the other defendants in the case were given a sixty (60) day waiver of summons. BMI and ASCAP has been removed as defendants from the civil action through an amicable settlement; whereupon they have agreed to place a freeze on all performance royalty payments worldwide, and to disclose the accounting statements for the disputed composition. Cash Money Records has agreed to put a freeze on mechanical royalties payments for all retail, digital downloads and ringtone product sales until the civil matter involving “Mrs. Officer” is resolved.
