Universal Not Supporting Rebirth album?

If the following is true… then Rebirth will either be a mixtape or be put out by a label other than Universal Music. Crazy stuff I know.
The Carter III was the top selling album of the year and pretty much Universal Music’s cash cow of last year. They want to do everything to keep Wayne in the top position he is in right now and avoid anything that could knock him from that spot.


Word is the top brass at Universal think that this rock album would be a failure and would make the rap world look at Wayne even more sideways than most of us already do. People reports top execs at Universal have tried to talk to Wayne several times and explain to him that this album is not a reality, but of course those convos are to no avail.

Word is that they let his manager, Cortez Bryant, know that if Wayne doesn’t brighten up they have to turn into Mr. Evil Record Company and just tell him it’s never going to be released.

I think anything he makes is amazing and all tha songs ive heard so far on tha rebirth album have been tha greatest stuff ever!!! im in love with tha song every girl!!! Universal cant do this to Wayne he is great and anything he makes will be top selling because he such a good rapper no matter if he does do a little rock….hey hes good at tha whole rock thing! i would hate to see Lil Wayne fail…he is soooo good at creating music!!! i hope rebirth comes out!!!

  13. Well out of all the comments here, that i read only one said that Rebirth sounds like a bad idea.. and i think that person needs wake up, just like Universal needs 2. EVERYONE already loves prom queen and sounds like most reports on the web agree that people dig this album. Wayne is a very smart person, hes #1 in the game for a reason. I say “Weezy Go for it, release Rebirth and let it be known. You are more then a rapper or a performer, your creative and have about 80 more levels to you then anyone else in the rap game.”

Rebirth wont do as good as Carter 3, not as many people are feeling his Rock, but I think he should have the freedom to drop the album because it wont do bad, anything Wayne touches turns to cash$. but it shouldnt be all about the money, he should just be able to drop it for the love of MUSIC!!!

  17. the idea of not releasing lilwayne’s rebirth album pisses me off however if Universal does not see it for what it is than lil wayne should release it elsewhere and get $paid$ for it– the album’s revolutionary and shows how an artist can evolve– some people can’t addapt to change i guess(even temporary ones)

I like wayne he is a beast i heard a few of the songs on youtube that shit is hot he kills anything he raps and or sings on I like all his music and would love it if this would be released that i am not human is the shit he killed it i think that universal is stupid cuz if this go double platinium the carter 3 then they’ll be lookin dumb as hell he shouldnt listen to them fuck them if they dont support it they some cock suckers and he should proove them wrong by releasing this cuz so far this album is fire i like it but think he should push it back to handle all the problems that he has goin on now
